in my study of walking as art i've been thinking a lot about:

and in my study of contemporary latin american art history i've been thinking a lot about a film by patricio guzman:
http://nostalgiaforthelight.com/
it's the most profoundly-heart-breakingly-beautiful film i have ever seen:
stumbling upon the north american premier of this film last february in new york, complete with in-depth director talk and q&a after the screening, was nothing short of a spectacular accident for me: i didn't even know there was a theatre in the basement of the MoMA, let alone free admission with your gallery ticket!
i had no idea what i was about to watch when i sat down. i didn't know too much about the potential for astronomy to define reality, reveal the distant past and predict the future. i had never heard about the chilean women who continue to walk the atacama desert each day in search of bone fragments of their 'disappeared' relatives twenty five years after the pinochet genocide...and i'll never be the same again.
WATCH THIS FILM (if you can handle having your mind blown and your heart broken all at once).
just message me to borrow my copy if you like. it miiiiiight change your life.
